BUTTERMERE AND BORROWDALE

Cockermouth – Buttermere – Honister Pass – Seatoller

Rosthwaite – Grange – Ashness Bridge – Keswick

Newlands Pass – Buttermere – Cockermouth

Today was to be a round trip from Cockermouth over two of the biggest passes in the Lake District, taking in Buttermere, Borrowdale and possibly Ashness Bridge and Keswick on the way. All before lunch.

We were meeting Richard’s old school friend Eddie at Buttermere for lunch in the pub on the way back.

That was the plan.

It was starting to feel ambitious.
